COVID-19

On Wednesday March 11th, the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 virus a global pandemic. There are over 118,000 cases in over 114 countries around the world. On the same day, the province of New Brunswick has its ‘Presumptive’ case, with the Department of Health website describing the case as ‘Probable’.

Currently CUPE 1252, as the bargaining agent with the other Health Sector Unions, are in discussions with respect to how Part III (Health Sector) will handle the pandemic. We have been informed there is a meeting scheduled for Monday with the Unions and Treasury Board. We are aware from HR that EMP/ANB have been preparing for this since it was announced in January. A formal communication should be released shortly on how the individual agencies will work together for the betterment of all New Brunswickers during such a difficult time.

As we (ANB) deal with different types of sickness on a daily basis as part of our job, I encourage all members to continue to use all necessary Universal Precautions as directed by the RHA’s or ANB.

We will try to direct you to any legitimate link or site in the future to help with any questions or concerns you may have. I have also reached out to ANB in regards to a communication release that should be out soon outlining the direction ANB will be taking with respect to COVID-19 moving forward.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact your RVP or myself. Please stay safe and thank you again for the service you all provide this province each and every day.

Respectfully,

Andrew McLean
