Fredericton City Council: Lockout of CUPE local 508

CUPE Local 4848 is sending our sincere apologies to Brother Darrah and his family.

On February 10th, 2020, Fredericton City Council held an emergency session and voted unanimously to lock out CUPE Local
508 (Outside Workers) if they gave notice of a strike. As such, CUPE local 508 were locked out. Since that time, Brother Darrah of CUPE local 4848 has been subjected to anti-union and other comments on social media for voting in favour of the lockout.

CUPE Local 4848 would like to correct this information as it pertains to Brother Darrah.

Brother Darrah in fact was out of the country at the time of the breakdown, and did not vote on this action.

The intention of this release is to stop the attacks that Brother Darrah and his family have been receiving.

President, Local 4848
