On behalf of the Executive of CUPE Local 4848, I want to commend all Paramedics and Dispatchers on the exceptional service you have provided to our province throughout 2020!
We have faced many challenges in 2020, many of them for the first time in our lives, but in true pre-hospital fashion you have all stepped up and overcome these challenges as a group. I would like for everyone to take a moment and reflect on everything you have done throughout these unprecedented times and congratulate yourself. Each and every one of you stepped up day in and day out. With the continuing threat of COVID-19, lockdowns, added personal protective equipment, and changes to the very way we do business, you have proven we are resilient and can adapt to whatever is in front of us.
Congratulations to all those who were able to receive the vaccination this past weekend and I hope that all remaining members will receive theirs shortly. I have reached out to our employer as well as the media stating that our Dispatchers need to be included in the priority groups as well, if they are not already included. With every medical emergency in this province flowing through their center, an outbreak within this specific qualified group would be extremely detrimental to our entire pre-hospital system.
I want to commend the members of this Executive as well as all the Station VP’s for stepping up! Your continued support has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated by many who have relied on you throughout the year.
I truly hope you all get a chance to unwind and spend time with family and friends during this holiday season. On behalf of my wife Melodie, my children and myself, we want to wish you all some Holiday Cheer!
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to each and every one of you!
President, Local 4848
