President’s Message

Sisters and Brothers,

By the end of business on Monday, the government failed to reply to CUPE with their intention on the order they received from the Labour Board. The government was given 30 days to respond and file for a “STAY” with the courts if they were not going to proceed with the order. They have done absolutely nothing, thus breaking the law by not following the order.

In response to this, CUPE Local 4848 will be holding a rally in Edmundston tomorrow. The message for the rally is very clear. The Government has failed to work with us; we want the entire order followed. No deals, no concessions. We want everything completed and implemented that came from the McEvoy decision.

Like the last round of rallies, let us work together and show this government we mean business! Let’s ask the government why they don’t like Paramedics and Dispatchers?  If they did, they would not treat us this way.

This is the reason as to the late notification. We will keep the pressure going but we need your help and support. Please bear with us and the last minute announcements, but that is how campaign rallies go. We need you to be flexible and understanding. If you have any questions, please contact your Station VP’s. Station VP’s, please ensure your members are informed and if you have any questions, please contact your Regional Presidents.

In Solidarity,

Greg McConaghy
